Sunday Social

It's time for Sunday Social over at A Complete Waste of Makeup!

Sunday Social

This week is all about TV shows...  You KNOW I'm all about that topic! :)

What was your favorite TV show as a kid?

I was and still am a HUGE fan of "Full House."  I've seen every episode numerous times, but still love watching reruns everyday.  Did you guys catch the Jesse and the Rippers reunion on Jimmy Fallon the other night?  It was a "Full House" fan's dream come true.

What is your current favorite TV show?

I have quite a few shows that I'm addicted to, so I'll categorize them for you...  My favorite drama is definitely "Parenthood."  If you haven't watched this show, you need to find it online and watch it from the beginning.  For comedy, I love "Cougar Town" and love TBS for giving it new life again.  "Real Housewives of OC," "Dance Moms," and "Teen Mom" are my favorite reality shows.  So dysfunctional and so wonderful all at the same time...

What reality show would you never do?

Anything involving physical pain, living outdoors for prolonged periods of time, or eating things not meant for human consumption...  LOL

What reality show would you love to do?

If I really had the design skill and know-how, I would love to be on "Design Star" on HGTV.  I've always said if I hadn't gone into teaching I'd probably have gone into interior design.  A couple guy friends and I joked a few years ago that we could make design team and would have a hilariously awesome show on HGTV.

What is the TV personality / character that is most like you?

I honestly can't come up with anyone off the top of my head...  *sigh*

Which TV character would you want to date?

Okay, so I've recently started watching old episodes of the original "Melrose Place" on Netflix.  (My mom loved this show back in the day, so I figured I'd give it a chance!)  I'm almost to the end of season 1, but I love the character Billy on there!  He's so cute and sweet!

If I want to get all old school, I'd also choose Mike Seaver from "Growing Pains."  I love that show and his character was an adorable schemer!

Sunday Social

Sunday Social

I'm a little late in posting, but I wanted to join in on this week's Sunday Social over at A Complete Waste of Makeup!  It's all about music this week, so enjoy!

What is your all-time favorite song?
I really can't pinpoint one single favorite song for all-time...  If I had to pick an 80's song, it would probably be "If This Is It" by Huey Lewis & The News.  It's such a good, catchy song and it's one that I can listen to over and over again.  Picking a favorite 90's song is much easier and it would be "You Get What You Give" by New Radicals.  It's another one that I can listen to on repeat and still love it!  I can't think of any more modern songs that stand out to me as being favorites...

What song reminds you of your childhood?
Okay, once again, I can't pin it down to one song so we're going to separate it out into different eras.

Early early years:  "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes was my first favorite song.  I was only 2 or so when that song came out, but I remember listening to it on the radio and "writing" the words to it.  I also remember seeing the video on MTV or VH1 one day and then trying to see it on TV at that same time of day after that.  I never even saw the movie "Dirty Dancing" until probably high school, but I've always loved that song!

Early Elementary:  MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This" will forever remind me of learning to skate at school skating parties and my 7th birthday party.  And yes, I do know all of the words.

Late Elementary:  "Waterfalls" by TLC is probably my favorite song from the mid-90's.  It was on the radio all the time and just seemed so cool.

What song puts you in a good mood?
Okay, this one is totally random...  "Let's Go" by Wang Chung.  It's the perfect 80's song to blast in your car and sing along with.

What is your music to rock out to in your car?
I'm a total sucker for just about anything from the 80's and 90's.  My new car has XM and I've been loving the 80's and 90's stations on there!

What is the most embarrassing album or song you own?
I own a lot of random stuff, but the only one that comes to me as being a little embarrassing is Miley Cyrus's "Party in the USA."  For some reason I really liked that song when it first came out and downloaded it.

Sunday Social!

Sunday Social

I haven't done a Sunday Social post in quite a while, so I thought I'd try to get back int he habit of linking up over at A Complete Waste of Makeup.  These are such fun posts and it's always entertaining to read what other ladies have to share!

This week's topic is travel, so I was all about ranting about that!

Me in Seattle during my recent trip to Washington!
  1. What is the best trip you've ever been on?  Oh, that's a hard one!  I think it might be a tie between my trip to New York during spring break a few years ago and my recent trip to Washington.  Being a KS girl, it's super fun to get to see other parts of the US that are different than my neck of the woods.  NY was so much fun and it helped that I was traveling with 2 girls who had previously lived there.  I would have totally been lost without their expertise!  There's so much I got to see and so much more that I didn't that I'd love to make it back there someday.  Washington was absolutely beautiful and was my first time traveling anywhere west of Colorado.  I'm not the most outdoorsy type, but I totally was up for outdoor adventure on that trip!  It's another place I'm hoping to make it back to.
  2. What is your best idea for a girls weekend trip?  My favorite girls weekends have been ones where we don't travel super far (3 hours or so) and just shop and relax.  I think weekend trips are too stressful when you try to jam in too many activities.  Shop all day, eat a yummy dinner, and spend the night in wearing PJs and watching movies is totally my kinda day.
  3. What is your best idea for a couples trip?  I think the best couples trips are the kinds that allow both people to enjoy their own personal interests together.  I think having some relaxing downtime to just chill is also a good thing for a couple to do when they travel together.  Traveling can be a stressful event, so just enjoying some time together without worrying about being on a schedule is always a good idea.
  4. What is the best vacation on the cheap?  I've been on several trips where we rented a cabin or condo for the trip, which allowed us to be able to buy groceries and cook most of our meals right there.  If you've got a group of 4 or 5 people and split those costs, it's much cheaper than going out to eat for every meal.  I'm not super big into doing really "touristy" things and paying for stuff like that, but rather just explore the sites on my own.
  5. What is the place you most want to visit?  I've never been outside of the US and that is my ultimate goal someday...  To go to another country.  I think at the top of my list would be Europe.  I'd love to see England, France, and Germany and get to experience the culture in those places.  A little closer to home, I'd like to visit Canada and some of the big cities up there.
The gorgeous sunset at Pacific Beach.
The Alamo!

I loved Times Square!  It was so filled with life at all times of the day and night!

Literally chillin' with friends on a mountain in Colorado!

Yes, that's the sign pointing to South Park, Colorado!

Sunday Social

It's time for Sunday Social over at A Complete Waste of Makeup!  This week's theme is Pinterest, so of course I had to participate!

I have over 5,000 pins on there, so choosing my favorites was a little bit of a challenge, so these are ones that have recently inspired me.

Favorite Outfit Pin
Image via Pinterest
I'm really wanting to add some green to my wardrobe. Maybe it's because emerald is the Pantone Color of the Year and it's been all over the place... Maybe it's because I really don't have much of it in my wardrobe. I can totally see myself in this outfit.

Favorite Food Pin
Image via Pinterest
For someone who has 602 recipe pins, I really don't cook very much.  I do love a good breakfast casserole, though, and that is one of the things that I've actually made a few times thanks to Pinterest.  This one made with biscuits and is my most recent breakfast casserole find!

Favorite Wedding Pin
Image via Pinterest
I resisted starting a wedding board on Pinterest for a really long time because I'm nowhere near getting married and I don't want to be that desperate single girl that's planning her dream wedding.  That said, I did finally give in because there really are some great ideas out there that I would like to have filed away for someday!

Favorite DIY / Craft Pin
Image via Pinterest
I think this is my favorite because I've actually made my own earring holder inspired by this pin!

My version!
This was also my first Pinterest project / DIY a few years ago, so it's kind of what started it all!

Favorite Quote / Verse / Lyric Pin
Image via Pinterest
I'm not sure this one is my favorite, but it is a really good reminder!

...And share one more favorite pin you love!
Image via Pinterest
I love this mix and match aspect of this living room.  I have a major urge to make everything match, so images like this inspire me to break out of that mindset.

***

On a side note, has anyone else tried the new pin embedding feature on Pinterest?  I like the concept, but I don't like that you can't see the pin in your post!  My text and formatting was all off and after several tries today I just gave up.  That said, if you do want to pin anything you see here, click the image and pin it directly from Pinterest since none of these images (other than the black frame) are originally mine.

Happy Sunday!

Sunday Social

It's time to link up over at A Complete Waste of Makeup for Sunday Social!

Sunday Social

This week's theme is spring...  As I type this I'm watching snow falling outside my living room window.  *sigh*  Spring will get here at some point I guess!

What is your favorite thing about spring?
I love that spring is kind of a fresh start in some ways.  I love the bright, cheerful colors associated with spring!

What is your favorite kind of flowers to grow or receive?
I'm not really successful at keeping flowers alive and I've never really had anyone give me flowers, so this is a hard one.  I still love bright daisies, though!  One of my students brought me hot pink daisies for my birthday a couple months ago and that totally made my day!

What is your favorite nail polish color?
This is a hard one!  I love the purple-y color of Essie's "Bond With Whomever" and last year's fave, China Glaze's "Flip Flop Fantasy" is sure to make quite a few appearances on my nails!

What is your favorite outdoor activity?
I think I mentioned this in the question about summer last week, but I love going to outdoor concerts or the drive-in.  I just like things that are chill and fun to enjoy with friends.

Do you have any fun spring plans?
Nothing really fun on the horizon right now...  I need to change that, though!

Sunday Social

I'm linking up over at A Complete Waste of Makeup for this week's Sunday Social!

Sunday Social

  • What is your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?  Rainy days are the best for opening up the blinds, watching the rain, and watching something good on TV.  I also sometimes like reading and just listening to the rain.  Oh, and wearing yoga pants and a hoodie is totally required on these kinds of days.
  • What is your favorite thing to do on a summer weekend?  I think going to an outdoor concert or the drive-in on a summer evening can be super fun.  We have a local festival each summer and there are usually quite a few concerts during that week.  We seem to get a lot of country acts (not really my thing) and some 80's bands (totally up my alley) and both have been really fun.  (Aside from the nasty nasty smokers that sat in front of us last year when we saw Rick Springfield...  I ended up sick for 2 weeks and ended up with a raging ear infection due to the smoke.  So freakin' gross!  At least the concert itself was awesome!)
  • What is your favorite spring accessory?  This is a hard one.  I've still been loving bright, fun scarves lately!
  • What is your favorite way to spend a winter day?  I had a 4 day weekend back in February and I had an 80's movie marathon.  It was delightful!  I sat on my couch with my K-State blanket, burned delightful smelling candles, drank cappuccino, and wore sweats all weekend.
  • What is your favorite season and why?  Although I love spring (allergies aside), fall is my favorite. I love fall clothes, pumpkin everything, and COLLEGE FOOTBALL!  EMAW
  • What is the best birthday you ever had?  My 16th birthday was, by far, the best ever.  My two girlfriends and I decided we'd plan one another's 16th birthdays.  Well, a week or so before mine they confessed to me that they'd forgotten to plan anything, but as a consolation we could go out for a movie or something.  I tried to act like it didn't bother me, but I was CRUSHED.  I mean, how can 2 of your best friends forget your birthday?  So, come Saturday my mom and I went out for a sushi dinner.  A couple of my friends came to the restaurant saying they went to my house and my step dad told them I was there (before the days when everyone had a cell phone).  They decided to "kidnap" me and take me out for a movie since they felt bad that the party thing fell through.  We got out to the car and I found 2 giggling blankets in the backseat hiding 2 more of my friends.  They handed me a newspaper and told me to pick a movie, but we'd first have to swing by one of their homes to get some more cash.  When we got to her house, it was filled with TONS of friends all there to surprise me!  Oh my gosh, they got me so good!  My mom had been in on the whole thing all along (putting up with my whining about how my friends sucked for forgetting and helping me make plans for a party the following weekend) and had even delivered a cake and things to my friend's house earlier that day!  I also got the best gift ever a few months later when I got my driver's license...  A brand new car!  The car wasn't really a surprise and it was just a basic little Saturn, but I drove that car up until 2 years ago when I finally decided to upgrade.
2 of my friends with me at my 16th birthday party!  I'm still friends with these girls!
 Happy Sunday!

Sunday Social

It's Sunday, so you know what that means...  Sunday Social!

Sunday Social

This week's theme is that there pretty much isn't a theme.  Here goes!

What is one movie you are terrified to watch?
I wouldn't say I'm scared of any particular movies, but I'm not really a fan of horror movies.  I once had a guy bring a stack of horror movies to my house for a movie night...  Not necessarily my idea of a good time.

What is one TV show you've wanted to get into but haven't?
I used to really like the show "Army Wives," but then I think it was during the third season stopped watching consistently and have not been able to get back into it since.  I actually won't allow myself to watch it anymore until I catch up.  Is that weird?!?  I seriously need to watch like 5 seasons or something.

I guess as far as shows I've never really given a chance to are "The Walking Dead" and "Duck Dynasty."  Everyone talks about those shows, but I just haven't given them a chance!

What is one daring activity on your bucket list?
Okay, I'm going to be super lame and say that I really don't have any "daring" things on my bucket list.  I'm just kinda boring like that.

Would you ever travel alone?
I would (and have) traveled from Point A to Point B on my own, but I don't think I could just do an entire vacation by myself.  I have to say that the actually getting there by myself is a little less stressful than when traveling with others, but once I get to my destination I'd prefer to have friends to hang out with.

What activities do you like to do alone?
I prefer shopping alone most of the time.  I don't completely dislike shopping with friends (sometimes I really love having the company), but sometimes I can be really indecisive and just need tons of time to be that way.  I was that girl that went prom dress shopping on my own and was perfectly happy that way.

Sunday Social
Click here to visit this week's link up!

It's time to link up over at A Complete Waste of Makeup for this week's Sunday Social.  I've skipped the past could weeks (Valentine's theme = gag and then I was on vacation last weekend), so it's good to be back and linking up with everyone!

This week's theme surrounds around the number

5

  • 5 songs you'll listen to the rest of your life:

    • "You Get What You Give" - New Radicals
    • "The Power of Love" - Huey Lewis & the News
    • "Ordinary World" - Duran Duran
    • "Let's Go" - Wang Chung
    • "You're My Best Friend" - Queen
  • 5 things on your bucket list:
    • Get married
    • Have a few kids
    • Own a home
    • Travel to Europe
    • Complete some sort of further education
  • 5 celebs you'd like to hang out with for the day:
    • Jason Bateman
    • Ryan Gosling
    • Jennifer Garner
    • Drew Barrymore
    • Betty White
  • 5 things you always carry in your purse:
    • Driver's license
    • Debit card
    • Some sort of lip product
    • Mascara
    • Phone / iPod
  • 5 books on your reading list:
    • Something Blue
    • The Help
    • Always Looking Up:  The Adventures of an Incurable Optimist
    • Dear John
    • The Lovely Bones
  • The last 5 pictures on your phone camera:
My phone was having memory issues, so I actually deleted pretty much all of my photos yesterday...  So, I'll show you some that were on my camera from my trip to Texas last weekend!

My friend David and me at the Alamo...  I totally wish this guy didn't live way out on the west coast because he's one of my besties!

Funny story...  We were walking around before dinner and of the restaurant hosts complimented my friend Arvin on his scarf.  I have to admit I was a little offended that my scarf wasn't complimented!  I'm pretty sure the guy was hitting on my friend though!

We wandered around San Antonio at night.  This is when things were happy and fun and before we thought we were going to die or get mugged by a mob of homeless people.  It was an adventure!

We visited the Alamo, but didn't do the whole tour thing.  It was pretty cool to see since I hadn't been there before!

A monument outside of the Alamo...  For some reason I really like how this picture turned out!

Sunday Social: 4's

I feel like I've kind of dropped the ball on blogging lately and have totally neglected it.  I was asked if I could come back to work at Aerie during the holiday season, so I've been spending the majority of my free time working there.  Blogging has kind of taken a backseat over the past few months anyway and then adding a part-time job on top of that has just been a time suck.

Anyway, this week's Sunday Social theme is 4's.  I thought this was a fun theme, so I thought I'd share my answers with you!

Name 4 jobs you've had in your life.

My first job was babysitting.  I never had a "real" job until college because I stayed plenty busy with babysitting.  During my first 3 years of college I did kind of a work study / research program where I worked on a project with a faculty mentor.  I got paid for it, but I didn't really have regular work hours, so it didn't feel much like a normal job.  During my junior year of college I took another job working at the K-State Student Union doing reservations for building events.  It was kind of a cool job, but I'm not sure an office atmosphere is my thing.  Finally, I'm in my sixth year of teaching third grade.  I also worked at a preschool and daycare during my senior year of college, but it's all teaching, so let's just lump those together.

Name 4 movies you could watch over and over.

My all-time favorite movie is "Back to the Future."  Technically, that's three movies, but for purposes of keeping this interesting I'll count the trilogy as 1.  Another all-time favorite is "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."  It's another one that I love and really never get tired of.  Next comes "Anchorman" because it's hilarious and probably one of Will Ferrell's best movies.  I think to round out my 4 I'll say "Forrest Gump."  It's such an incredibly good movie and Tom Hanks is one of my all-time favorite actors.

Name 4 places you have lived.

This one isn't very interesting because I've only lived in Kansas.  Even since I've graduated from college I've always lived within about a 3 mile radius of my mom's house!

Name 4 of your favorite foods.

Sushi...  Delightful!

Mexican...  Carlos O'Kelly's, On the Border, Taco Bell, Abuelo's...  If it's Mexican, I'll probably eat it!

Kraft Macaroni and Cheese...  About a month ago I was living on this stuff.  I get the "fancy" kind with the cheese sauce so I don't have to worry about having milk or butter on hand.

Green Beans...  I know, so random.  I always have canned green beans on hand as a quick meal and a veggie fix.

Name 4 things you always carry with you.

I'm going to go off of things that are almost always in my purse for this one. The first would be my phone, but I think that's pretty much a given for most people.  I have an Android phone, but an iPod touch that also goes with me pretty much everywhere.  (I like some Droid apps better and some Apple apps better, so I still like to carry both with me.)  The next thing would be some sort of lip product.  Lately it's been my NYX lip gloss from Ulta.  The final thing I always have with me is a hair tie.  This curliness can end up turning into a hot mess pretty quickly, so I always have a hair tie or two on hand to tame things.

Name 4 places you have been on vacation.

I feel like travel is one thing my life has lacked.  I've never been west of Colorado!  Anyway, here are my top 4 places I've been...

New York (The city and surrounding areas.)

Chicago  (Probably the only major US city I'd like to live in.  I love it up there, but it's been years since I've been there.)

Colorado (I love that whole state...  Kansas is blessed to have a beautiful next door neighbor!)

Orlando (It wasn't really a vacation and I actually didn't see any of the cool stuff there, but the area was absolutely gorgeous!  My very short 2 days there made me want to go back for a real vacation there someday!)

Sunday Social

A Complete Waste of Makeup hosts Sunday Social each week.  I don't always get around to doing a post (and some weeks I'm not all that into the questions), but it is a really fun way to link up and discover new blogs.

Sunday Social

This week's questions were pretty general and were "catch up" questions.

What is currently on your wish list?

I've got a pretty good list going of pricier items that I'd like to get in the next few months.  The one I'm hoping to get soon is a Clarisonic Mia 2 (in pink, of course).

Clarisonic - Mia2™ Sonic Skin Cleansing Holiday Pore–fection Collection
sephora.com

Coach sent me a coupon this week for $100 off $300 or more.  Now, technically I am still banned from making anymore purse purchases until next year, but coupons like this just don't come along very often.  I look to be getting a small raise and probably do some part time retail work during the holiday season, so I'm thinking that may be the only way I can justify a purse.  I've been eyeing this one from their Poppy collection for a while.

Coach <3
coach.com

My final wish list item is an iPad Mini!  I actually went into Best Buy tonight to check them out in person.  I love it!  The size is exactly what I want and I love my iPod Touch, so I know the iPad would be a wonderful addition for me.  Other than blogging, I don't really do much online at home that requires a full laptop.  I'm asking for gift cards for Christmas and hope to maybe get one in the next few months!

Share a new iPhone, Droid, or iPad app you recently discovered that we all need.

I'm really not into discovering cool apps.  I have an Android phone and an iPod Touch and I carry both around and use apps on both.  I wouldn't categorize either app as "cool" or even new, but I've been using the apps for Target and Walgreens a lot lately for their weekly ads and rewards program.  I've also been using my ESPN Fantasy Football app a lot on weekends to check up on my (not-so-stellar) team!

Share your social media links for us to follow you on.

I don't tweet and I don't have a Facebook page for my blog.  I do use Instagram, but I'm contemplating on whether or not I want to make that one private and if I want that one connected to my blog.

What is a new fall TV show you have added to your DVR?

"Go On" with Matthew Perry is probably the only new show that I've started watching this year.  I really don't watch much network TV other than a few shows on NBC.  I'm a huge fan of "Friends" and Perry is really great in this show.  I'm really hoping it lasts longer than just this first season!

What is a TV show / movie / song that you can listen to or watch over and over and never get tired of?

TV Show(s):  Friends, Full House, Arrested Development

Movie:  Back to the Future

Song:  Pretty much anything from Huey Lewis & the News or Duran Duran

Obviously I like to kick it old school.

Well, that's it for this week's questions!  I hope you had fun reading and will come back soon to read some of my other posts I'll have coming up!  Happy Sunday and I hope you feel well-rested from your extra hour of sleep!

Sunday Social: Let's Wrap Up Summer!

I'm once again linking up with A Complete Waste of Makeup for Sunday Social!

Sunday Social

This week we're celebrating the end of summer!  I'm just going to jump right into the questions...

What was your favorite trip / vacation / activity this summer?
This was the first summer in several years that I didn't go out of town.  The previous 3 summers or so I've been to Colorado and a short trip to visit friends in KC.  I was busy with other stuff and couldn't schedule a good time to visit friends out of town.  BUT, the best activity this summer was my friend's wedding here in town!  Several of my really good friends came here (part of why I didn't go to them) and I must say that was probably the best week of my summer.  I've really missed having some of my best friends here in town, so it was really great to have them here!

Favorite outfit look of the summer / clothing item?
I totally loved my neon and brights this summer.  I accumulated quite the collection of bright tees and tanks.  It was super refreshing to brighten up my wardrobe with some fun colors.  My favorite jeans for the summer are my AE boyfit cropped jeans...  I've got 4 pairs between this year and last year in rotation since I'm not much of a shorts person.

What is one thing you wish you had gotten to do this summer?
Not to repeat myself, but I really do wish I'd been able to go out of town at some point.  Between moving, helping with wedding stuff, friends coming here, and my summer class I really didn't have a lot of the summer available to travel.  Oh well, more reason to try to schedule a trip for the next few months!

Favorite song of the summer?
I don't think I really have a song I've just been loving this summer.  I do kinda like "Good Time" from Carly Rae Jepsen and Owl City.  I've been really into listening to the 80's and oldies stations on IHeartRadio.com, so I've not be super up on current pop music.

Favorite movie / TV show of the summer?
I'm not much of a movie-goer, so the only two movies I saw were very random...  "Magic Mike" and "Ted." (I told you they were kinda random!)  I'm much more of a TV person, so here are my recent faves:
"Awkward"
"Design Star" / "Design Star All Stars"
"Degrassi"
"Dance Moms"
"Teen Mom"

I've also totally been into DVRing reruns of "ALF" and "The Facts of Life" in the middle of the night. LOL

Most of these are wrapping up their summer seasons, so I'm anxiously awaiting my fall shows.  I don't watch a lot of network TV, but I'm super excited for "Parenthood," "Community," and "Up All Night" to return!

Okay, now go check out the other posts over at A Complete Waste of Makeup!

Happy Sunday!

Sunday Social: Kickin' It Old School

This week's Sunday Social over at A Complete Waste of Makeup was a fun one, so I decided to participate again!

Sunday Social

What were you like in middle school / high school?

I was always a really good kid in school.  I was a good student and overall a rule follower.  I never got in trouble, never had a detention in my life, and only skipped class one afternoon at the very end of my senior year.  (I even had the same teacher first and last hour that year...  When he asked me where I was last hour I told him I wasn't feeling well and all he said was that he hoped I felt better!)

My 16th birthday surprise party!  My friends totally got me!
My middle school years were my least favorite.  I went to a small, private school and really hated it.  The school itself and the teachers weren't bad, but the students were not very nice to me and I had very few friends at school.  The case was the opposite at church...  I was Miss Popularity there and would totally rub that in the faces of the people at school.  My church friends were way "better" than all of them anyway!  LOL
In high school I had a solid group of friends.  I wouldn't necessarily say I was in the "in crowd," but I definitely had a group group of friends and was also friends with a lot of the super popular kids in my school.  We all took honors and AP classes together, but in my school it seemed like all of the most popular kids were also the smartest ones as well.

What were your favorite past times?

Late night hike on a youth group retreat.  Somehow we got
away with this!
All of my really close friends and I went to church together, so I pretty much never missed a youth group event.  I went on sooooo many retreats and to camp pretty much every opportunity between 7th grade and my senior year in high school.  I was also a huge fan of football in high school.  I don't think I missed any games (home or away) my sophomore or junior year in high school.  My friends and loved doing all of the other typical teenager things like going to the mall, seeing movies, going bowling, and just plain hanging out at each other's houses.  We were a group of good kids that still liked to have fun and be a teensy bit rebellious at times! ; )

What songs were you obsessed with?

Most of my middle school years were spend obsessing over Hanson.  I was totally in love with them and their "Middle of Nowhere" CD had a permanent place in my CD player.  Of course I loved "MmmBop" and my other fave from that album was "Where's the Love?"

Remember taping songs off of the radio, pre-Napster?  I found one of my tapes recently and of course had to play it just for kicks...  Here's a list of some of the songs:

To the Moon and Back - Savage Garden
My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion
Wannabe & Say You'll Be There - Spice Girls (I hated them, but I loved their songs!)
Quit Playing Games With My Heart - Backsteet Boys

One of my all-time favorite songs is this one from New Radicals...  This is still one of my favorite songs and it totally reminds me of my 14th birthday party sleepover.

What fashion statement do you look back on and cringe?

Oh geez...  There's too many!

I owned wayyyyyy too many types of overalls back in the day...  Denim, khaki, shorts, plaid, velour...  If it was in the overall family, I probably owned it!  This unfortunately went on from about 6th grade until about my freshman year of college.  Ridiculous, huh?

I was also a child of the 90's so I grew up thinking that baggy clothing was completely acceptable.  For some reason I thought I wore an XL for the longest time.  I also though it was completely cool to shop in the men's section at Old Navy.  What better way to attract boys than to wear their clothes, right?  It finally dawned on me that I was actually a M and that it was actually okay to show off that my body had some shape to it.   Enter Abercrombie obsession.

My hair is super curly, but for a good chunk of middle school and high school I straightened (and slightly curled) my bangs.  Bangs were such a pain and never looked good on me.  Thankfully, I realized this before I ended high school and they were gone by the time I started college!

Who was your celebrity crush?

My first real celebrity crush was Zac Hanson.  I thought he was so freakin' cute!  He was totally on my bedroom walls and I may have also had a 3-ring binder full of Hanson pics!

My other fave was (and kinda still is) Mark McGrath from Sugar Ray.  He's seriously one of the most gorgeous men ever.  He's still super good looking!

What were your favorite TV shows / movies?

I've always been a fan of shows from the 80's.  I grew up watching reruns during the summer when I was off school.  I remember really being into old reruns on the Game Show Network one summer, but we only had that channel on the TV in my mom's bedroom so I was always trying to hang out up there.  Once I started driving, I went to the gym at 11 a.m. everyday to workout and watch reruns of "Growing Pains."

I watched a ton of MTV and VH1 from the time I was in elementary school on.  I still watch a lot of MTV, but not quite as much VH1.  (Is that weird?)  My BFF and I were pretty addicted to "The Tom Green Show" back during our freshman year of high school.  Remember "The Bum Bum Song" from that show?  Weird!  Another MTV fave was "2Ge+her."  I'd loved reruns of "The Monkees" when I was little, so it was right up my alley.

Does anyone remember the show "Popular"?  I'm pretty sure it was on WB.  Anyway, it was only on for 2 seasons, but I absolutely loved that show!  I was super sad when it ended, but a lot of the cast has gone on to do other shows in the years since.

"Back to the Future" has been my favorite movie since kindergarten, but during middle school I discovered a lot of other wonderful 80's movies.  I fell in love with "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" and "Sixteen Candles".  And of course "The Wedding Singer" is largely to blame for my obsession with 80's music!  I listened to that soundtrack a ton!

Sunday Social Linkup

I stumbled upon this post through A Brunette Duet, which is a new blog I just discovered a couple days ago.    From there I wandered over to A Complete Waste of Makeup and decided to needed to post link up with this one as well because it's all about my favorite season...  FALL!

Here are this week's questions:

What is your favorite fall activity?

Hmmm...  I must say I love college football, so it's probably watching football.  I try to make it to K-State to see one game a year, but otherwise I'm pretty much glued to my TV watching games all day Saturday.  I just love the sound of college football on my TV on a Saturday, even if I'm not all that interested in the teams playing!

My other favorite activity is hitting up arts and crafts fairs.  There's one that I try to go to each September in a really small town about 45 minutes away.  It's crazy busy there, but I always seem to find some cute new K-State items or fall decor!

Do you follow a football team?  If so, which one and why?

That's pretty obvious...  K-STATE WILDCATS!!!

I think I've become an even more hardcore fan since graduating from there.  I had season tickets one year and only went to a game and a half!  My older self hates my younger self for wasting such a treasure!

I don't really follow the NFL, but I do try to stay somewhat educated on how the KC Chiefs are doing since they are the closest pro team.  My second favorite college team is the OU Sooners...  I'm not sure why, but I've just always liked OU and I'll cheer for them as long as they're not playing my Wildcats!

What is something fun about fall in your area?

The weather here in October is usually pretty awesome.  I love sweater weather where I don't have to pile on a huge coat.  Like I said before, I also like hitting up craft fairs, going to the corn maize, or an outdoor market in the fall.  Our state fair is at the beginning of September and can still be pretty hot, but last year it was perfectly cool and lovely!  Any excuse to be outside and enjoy the weather is great with me!

Favorite fall outfit staples?

I'm actually working on a whole blog post on this for the coming week or so, so stay tuned.

My fall wardrobe is by far my favorite...  I love cardigans, comfy sweaters, jeans, cute hoodies, fun scarves,  and clogs are probably my most worn items.

Here are some of my favorite fall outfit pins from Pinterest...

I only wish I could look this chic everyday of fall!

What are you looking forward to most about this coming fall season?

I really don't have anything exciting planned for this fall, so I think it would just have to be all of the little things coming up that I've already mentioned...  The cooler weather, the outdoor activities, college football, and giving my sweater collection some time to shine!

Favorite fall holiday?

I'd have to say Thanksgiving.  I love teaching about thankfulness to my third graders and making them realize how truly blessed they are to be surrounded by those who care about them.  I also love the food the comes along with Thanksgiving.  My grandpa makes a stellar turkey and my mom spends about 3 days "whipping up" some amazing sides.  I've learned not to load up at our actual sit-down meal in the afternoon, but rather to just pace myself throughout the day!  Ha ha!  And of course, I love what comes after Thanksgiving...  Black Friday!
